There are a number of public holidays in my country. These are categorized as national, religious and cultural.People enjoy almost holidays in different ways.Here I would like to talk about the Independence Day celebration when our country gained her freedom from the British rule in 1947.It take place in my country on every 15th August.
The day is celebrated at many places in my country but the main celebration takes place in the capital of my country in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister begins flag hoisting ceremony followed by his speech.After that, military officers are given medals for their special contribution to the country and then various company of army march on near the Red Fort.A big crowd gathers here to watch the ceremony.Most people of my country watch this event live on television at home.However,I go to the main celebration venue in my city that takes place at a Nehru Stadium near my home where the Chief Minister salutes Indian flag early in the morning and then we all sing our National Anthem. After that,we see various cultural programs indicating the spirit of patriotism and glory of our nation. Honorable Chief Minister gives prizes to participants. I used to take part in some sports like hockey and cricket a few years ago.However,now I go to the venue only to see the event and the celebration.

Rose has so many other qualities.Its sweet fragrance charms every body and it can turn even an enemy into a friend.It has cosmetic value.People use it in face-packs and other skin-purifiers.They use rose-water for curing minor infections of eyes.Its preparation is used as a laxative to cure constipation.Last but not the least,rose is used for decorating houses and weddings.Its bouquet brings smile on the receivers face.

I am fond of enjoying my holidays.The summer season we made a program to enjoy our vacation in Goa.
My father is a bank officer.He applied for LTC (Leave Travel Concession) to his head office.Everybody was excited to go to Goa.Goa is one of the most beautiful and visited tourist places in India.My mother and sister made all the arrangements of packing up the clothes and other required items for the journey.My brother and iI were busy in getting the seats booked in the train.Suitable hotel was also searched through the internet.
At last we reached Goa.After taking rest in the hotel room,we went to the sea-beach.It was a magical scene.The sea waves and the coconut trees presented a balm to our minds and bodies.Evenings were all the more charming with the mingling of the melodious voice of the singers in the churches and at the beach.It seemed as if we had really reached a dream land,a land away from the polluting factories and automobiles.
We stayed in Goa for full one week.It seemed as if we were the inhabitants of this heaven.But the calendar was reminding us of our commitments back home. We had to come back to the world of cars and concrete jungle.I can never forget these amazing holidays.
