IMPORTANT WRITING ESSAYS WITH ANSWERS FOR IELTS

1.When a country develops its technology, the traditional skills and ways of life die out.It is pointless to try and keep them alive. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

SAMPLE ANSWER:

Traditions are the heart and soul of a country's culture.Traditional skills are the building blocks of civilization. These are the skills which are developed automatically to suit the needs of the people. It has been well said that necessity is the mother of invention. The same holds true in the case of traditional skills as well.

When people want to accomplish same task, they develop their own method of doing it and it is this invention that takes the form of a skill. These skills are inherited by people from one generation to the other.Along the way, sometimes due to technological developments or neglect or lack of interest by the young people ,these skills die out. They dry up on the hot sands of time. These skills then no longer attract the people. These craftsmen have to turn from pillar to post for earning their bread and butter.

I,for sure,do not agree with the motion that as technology develops it is pointless to try and keep our traditional skills alive.Traditional skills reflect the glory of our rich culture. They remind us of the lives of the people who followed them with religious devotion. Moreover, the ideas behind the traditional skills can act as stepping stones for future inventions and researches.

For instance, weaving khadi or handspun cotton is a traditional skill of India, many people live below the poverty line.Traditional skills can help them in earning at least one square meal a day. These kills do not need much investment.

Conservation of traditional skills does not mean that we have to shield them unnecessarily.Modern technology has transformed the way we live today. It has made the most distant dreams of man come true. But in spite of all this,we must forget that traditional skills are relevant even today there are countless lovers of these skills and crafts.Whatever heights we may scale,we must not forget our roots;the traditional skills.

2.With the increase in the number of women working nowadays the major problem that is coming up is juvenile delinquency. To what extent do you agree?

SAMPLE ANSWER

There is no doubt in the fact that today's children feel more neglected as compared to the children in earlier times.Earlier it was a custom that man was the bread winner and woman was for home and hearth. She used to give more time to children.Home was the first school and values were the foremost things taught to a child by his mother.

Nowadays, with more and more women working, television has become the first school and values have taken a back seat.Everything like serials, songs, cartoons and violent movies are being viewed by today's children. Moreover, there is none at home to monitor his T.V viewing.

The mind of a child is very delicate, innocent and immature. So many thoughts enter his mind when he watches the dirtiness and criminality shown in newspaper, magazines and television.A working woman is so tired after a day's work that she has no time and energy for her child.Workplace bullying and pressures of global competition are the other factors that consume the mental energy of a woman. When the child knows that his parents are busy in their working schedules he takes the wrong path because that is the easiest path.He feels that rather than working and earning it is better to loot and earn as it involves adventure.A child does not know the consequences of crime.Drugs, drinks, casinos and gun culture are a passion for him.Books, knowledge, career, hard work and success elude him.

The only way out is that till the age of about 16 years a child should not be left all alone. He should have either his parents or grandparents to attend him and supervise him.His energies should be channelised in such a way as to ensure all round personality development.Character, ethics and morals are what he needs to be told again and again.Indoor or outdoor sports and healthy T.V viewing in the presence of a senior member of the family is very essential.
